So now that we know the sun still does actually exist, and there is hope that maybe spring will decide to stick around from now on and lead us into another beautiful Aussie summer as we know it ..scorching days by the pool and beach, when it's so hot you burn your feet on the concrete, the smell of salt in your hair, balmy evenings and backyard BBQ's.. okay so it's fair to say I LOVE summer and have been longing for it since it ended months back, but I, for one, am officially moving into Summer now. I can no longer bring myself to dress in jeans and jackets, even on these cooler days we are getting right now, there's just too much excitement around for me to keep crawling back into winter clothes!
I think one of the best parts of rolling into a new season, well for me anyway, is discovering, out of all the fast paced trends and fashions engulfing our lives, as milk does cereal, with all the array and buzz of looking at, drooling over, and succumbing to purchasing the latest colours, prints and that seasons 'Must-Have' piece, is deciding on the vast selection of things that you know you will not be able to live through the season without! - despite the distraction of the latter mentioned items, I always find that there is a select few things that I always go back to again and again throughout that time even once the fads and trends have passed and new ones have already overtaken their reign.
It's definitely easy to get caught up in the 'trend' side of fashion, and I'll be the first to admit that I'm a sucker for a good trend piece or two, but I do also like to mould my personal style around the basis of having good key items in my wardrobe. Not only are most of them essential, and hardly ever date, but they also work as sleek pieces on their own in a more 'understated-chic' way or as a statement outfit with those rather more 'bold' trend items, which, let's be honest, most of the time get worn a handful of times before finding a comfortable spot on a hanger in our wardrobe to peacefully live out their remaining fashion lives..
